MUCC – 21.10.09
MUCC @ 02 Academy Islington

When we finally were let in I made my way to barrier just right of where Miya would be stood. The normal wait that lasts forever actually seemed to pass reasonably and then the lights dimmed and sphere started. The energy level in the crowd was crazy within moments and MUCC took to the stage in their usual bare footed, baggy trousered way, facing away from the audience. Only turning around when all member s were on the stage to start play Howling. It was so great being on barrier, I haven’t had this opportunity for a while and being able to throw yourself full force over the bar over and over and the many bruises that come with it the next day, was thoroughly enjoyed. We got a nice mix of songs including lighter songs to break up the blocks of heavier tunes as well as FUZZ leading straight, and very well, into OZ.
Nothing had been said about no photos, so a lot of people made sure to catch as much of the action as possible on memory card. The atmosphere was really great in the crowd though and the four guys even tried to speak English to us a few times~~ Mostly the work of Tatsuro with little phrases thrown in, like before FUZZ: “DO YOU LIKE TO DANCE??” At one point though, each member took it in turn to have a short MC with the tiny amount of English they knew before then saying the name of the next member in hope they would say something as their own English had ran out. I don’t know if it is the order of songs or how they played it, but the whole gig managed to flow really well, sadly this meant it passed quickly :C They came back for an encore and played us Libra after the many chants of LIBRA, LIBRA, LIBRA made it obvious what the crowd wanted. Also in the encore Tatsuro suddenly told us we all had to on Sato’s count of 4 (or was it 3?) jump up and that we all now should sit down. Some people looked around in confusion thinking “I don’t get what’s going on?” and the rest of us thinking “I can’t believe he is making us do this” as the security guards were already pretty angry with Tats after he jumped off stage, climbed up the barrier and threw himself into the crowd~~ SO we all sat down with the lights being turned up, and waited… It wasn’t that long of a wait but it seemed longer than it was as MUCC continued to play, no one know when the count would begin, then suddenly 1234! And we all jumped up together xD it was crazy!
“In Japan, i am an English Teacher”. Tatsuro had been teaching each crowd a new random japanese word! Todays lesson; HITOZUMA. He asked us to repeat “HI” “HI-TO” “HI-TO-ZU” “HI-TO-ZU-MA, HITOZUMA, HITOZUMA!!” Does anyone know what this means? xD
The gig was awesome but I thought it was over too fast! They all said they wanted to come back and hopefully do more shows in the UK next time rather than just LDN~ So let’s have our fingers crossed!
